On Sunday 25 July 2010 we participated in the Gosford Under 9 Gala day where we were placed in Division 1, Pool 1 together with Scotts FC, SEU A and Terrigal A. Everyone except Isaak was available today namely Ethan, Isaac, Marcus, Leon, Darcy, Jack, Tyree, Jamal, Dylan and Thomas.

 

Our day started at 8am and we played against Scotts FC, which ended Nil all. Our second game was against Peninsula rivals SEU A and we won the game 5 nil. Goal scorers were Jamal 1, Dylan 1, Leon 1, Darcy 1 and Jack 1. A mention to our defensive players Isaac, Marcus and Ethan who played a great game to defuse all SEU attacking raids that came their way. Our third game was against Terrigal A and we won the game 1 nil. Goal scorer was Tyree who stayed composed in front of goal to open his account for the day. Our fourth game was against Scotts FC and this time we won 1 Nil after a wonder strike from Dylan who beat the keeper with a great shot from outside the box. Our fifth game was against SEU A and this game ended nil all. Our sixth and final group game was against Terrigal A and knowing that we had topped the group win, lose or draw we changed our team structure and gave our Keeper Thomas some game time on the field. This game ended Nil all and as a result we topped Division 1 and were through to the Semi Final.

In the Semi Final we played against Berkeley Vale who put in a strong performance to deny us several scoring opportunities, some which were cleared off the line, but finally late in the second half our continued pressure on the Berkeley Vale goal saw Leon produce one of his wonder strikes to deny the keeper and give us a 1 nil victory. A special mention to our master Goalkeeper Thomas, who on a couple of occasions, produced some good diving saves to keep us in the game.

The Grand Final was a hard fought game against Scotts FC with both teams defending well and creating scoring opportunities. Both teams were feeling the pressure and within the remaining five minutes we made a good dribbling run down the right hand side where our supporters were situated and then a great cross beat all the Scotts FC defensive line and went across the goal area straight to our master striker Tyree who slotted the ball past the Scotts FC keeper with his strong left foot to break the deadlock and send all our players and supporters into scenes of jubilation both on and off the field. This was one of the greatest moments of the day as all the players embraced near the goal, which is always a sign of a great team. With a couple of minutes remaining Ethan got the ball near half way and sent back a thunderous strike which bounced under their defender’s legs and past the keeper into the back of the net to seal a Great Victory and again sending all players and Supporters into scenes of jubilation. The Grand Final was won 2 Nil.

A big thank you to all our players Isaac, Marcus, Ethan, Darcy, Jack, Leon, Dylan, Tyree, Jamal and Thomas who played well all day keeping our team with a clean sheet for the day.

A big thank you to all our parents and supporters who supported the boys all day. Thanks to Isaak and little Jack for keeping score all day. I would like to thank Anthony (Ethan’s Dad) for managing the boys for a couple of games whilst Chris and I were away and a big thanks to our manager Chris for assisting me with the team for majority of the day.

Congratulations boys and well deserved. Both Chris and I are very proud of you all, especially how you approached and played each game and showed good sportsmanship on and off the field.
